We
regret to inform you that parking is no longer available
in front of Sin Den. There is, however, ample parking
available around the salon for a reasonable price
Parking
& Taxi Guide
1)
White squares on Gaien Nishi Dori. You want
to park as close as you can to the intersection called
Harajuku Danchi (pictured to the right). Watarium is
here, as is the Kakuyasu Sake shop, a Soba restaurant
and a Korean resturant called Kim Chi. Coming from Shibuya
on 246, this is the first light after turning left onto
Gaien Nishi Dori. Put three one-hundred yen coins in
the meter and you are good to go for 60 minutes. You
can't extend the time, however, unless you move your
car out of the spot and put it back in. The parking
police are pretty lax in this area (only if you are
actually in a square) but things seem to be getting
stricter so be careful! Follow the
picture directions
from the third / fourth picture to the salon.
2)
Coin Parking: There is lots of coin parking
around Sin Den. The closest is just after you turn off
Gaien Nishi Dori at the Harajuku Danchi Intersection
(pictured and explained in 1 above). There are only
four spots here, however, just down the road on the
left is a large underground parking lot that is less
expensive and perfect for rainy days. It's in the basement
of Oakwood Apartments. Follow
the picture
directions from the fourth picture to the
salon.
3)
Coming by Cab: Print out the Japanese map (the
link is above to the right). If you can manage a one
minute walk, get out at Harajuku Danchi and follow
the picture
directions from the third/fourth picture
to the salon. If you really need
to go all the way, and your cabbie is undaunted by the
narrow roads (try asking if it's okay that the road
is narrow -> michi ga semi desu ga daijobu desu
ka?) If your driver seems okay, follow the directions
below (access is slightly different depending whether
you are coming from Gaien Nishi or Meiji Dori).
(A)
From Gaien Nishi
(coming from route 246):
Go past Harajuku Danchi and turn left
just before the next light (Jingumae 3 Chome). You will
go down a hill along the narrow road and then go up
a bit. At the next road, turn left. Go down for a bit
and you will see a temple on the left hand side. At
this point start looking for the temple parking lot
on the left. Right after the parking lot there is a
red brick building on the right, which is where you
want to have the cab turn right. If you have your
picture directions you will now be looking at the
fifth picture. Have the taxi go straight and if you're
nice you'll get out before he has to turn right (he
can make it but it is tight!). Sin Den is just around
the corner to your right.
(B)
From Meiji Dori
(coming from Shibuya):
Go
past the Meiji Jingumae Intersection (where the Gap
and La Floret are) and continue towards Shinjuku. At
the first big intersection (you will see Diesel on the
right and a pedestrian overpass above) have the cab
turn right. Now Diesel is on your left and you're going
down a small incline. At the bottom of the little hill
is a light. The cab should turn right and go down this
narrow street. You will see Bape on the right hand side.
The narrow street will go up a hill and continue for
a bit and then you will see a temple on your left hand
side. Slow down and start
looking for a red brick building on the right, which
is where you want to have the cab turn right. If you
have your
picture
directions you will now be looking at the
fifth picture.

Harajuku Danchi Intersection
is on Gaien Nishi Dori between Route 246 (Haagan Daz,
Bell Commons, etc...) and the Jingumae 3-Chome intersection.
Coming
from Shibuya on Route 246 you will turn left at Gaien
Nishi (Sendagaya direction) and the first light is Harajuku
Danchi. You can see it at the bottom of the small map
below (just between the old and new shops).
